Don't worry. I've sub 1/2 days many times and the teachers have always been wonderful! They usually try to plan their lesson plans so that the students will be working on something independently when I arrive and we have a chance to talk for a few minutes. I ususally eat lunch before I go in so that I can review the afternoon plan while the students are at lunch. I love 1/2 afternoons because they fly by so quickly. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY!
