5th grade units

In 5th grade I taught 4 science based units one year...they were space, natural disasters, dinosaurs and the ocean (in that order). Each built on previous knowledge and tapped right into their interest on those subjects. I integrated lang arts (reading magic school bus, cam jansen mysteries, non-fiction, fiction core lit..etc...), math (figuring out weights in the moon, measuring dino sizes, varibles with natural distasters, etc...) social studies, music and pe with these science subjects. And the best part was, that the kids really learned! They loved those units!
