I gave my kids what I called a Geography Pre-Test at the beginning of the year. I wrote it myself using the terms from the beginning of their textbook. I also added in the continents and oceans. It gave me a good idea of who knows their stuff and who doesn't. I knew from teaching 4th last year what the 5th graders should've come in knowing. It's amazing that some still don't know their continents and oceans.I haven't heard of the Hands-On Geography. Who does it and what is involved?
