Class Meetings

I have a mailbox in my room where students can put complaints, problems etc. I have a weekly meeting on Wednesday and the items from the box are discussed anonymously. The class helps find the solution to the problem. In the past we have tackled many tough subjects including fear on the part of many middle eastern students during the 9/11 situation. So far no subject has been taboo. I feel these meetings help the class to become a community and I have seen first hand students standing up for each other outside the classroom.
