I have a student that sleeps anytime we do written work. I tried everything! Finally, when I knew it was about that time for him to try to catch some z's, I made him stand up for a few minutes. He had to continue working while standing. Then, after a few minute, I had him sit down for 5 minutes then back up for two. I use signs so it does not disrupt the other students. It works like a charm. We no longer have to constantly wake him and clean his desk from all the drool!
