What we do

My partner teacher and I have decided to do something like this at the end of each week. We decide on a game to play each Friday. We ask the kids to bring in the game if they have it. This past Friday we played Uno. Most of our kids don't play games with their families at home anymore. They don't know how to take turns, deal, strategize, etc. We spend a little time teaching the game and then play with them. They really loved it. In our state curriculum there are many objectives that playing games can teach.
