Storybook Parade
By Moe

Clip to ScrapBook
We also have more & more families that are "anti-Halloween" for various reasons. Yet, the majority of parents still support a costume parade. So a few years ago we changed to a Storybook Parade theme. The kids have to wear a costume and carry a book that relates to their costume. This REALLY helped steer more kids away from the scary costumes and toward Arthur, Amelia Bedelia, Captain Underpants...etc. We still do have a few kids that find a way to be gory, but no too many. Overall, it has been a fun way to celebrate READING, instead of Halloween.
