I expect that the teachers assigning "family" homework were only trying to make learning more fun for the child and involve their family in their homework. It is proven through research (and I can provide references) that students whose families help and are involved in their homework do better than those who are "too busy!" Furthermore, instead of "laughing and laughing" maybe you should respectfully discuss your concerns with your child's teacher. Are you a teacher? Most teachers I know would rather have a adult conversation about the issue rather than find out they are the butt of some "affluent" snobs' jokes!
