Carolyn has some great thoughts, I would like to just add that if your principal persists, you could demonstrate her misconceptions by:
Having naptime after lunch
Use the six weeks test for fingerpainting canvesses
Pin progress reports or notes home on the students' shirts
Go outside for recess
Provide old clothes for the students to play dress up
Decorate your room like a kindergarten room
Talk to everyone like kindergarten teachers do
Teach them that stupid good morning song I remember having to sing each morning
Thats about all I remember about kindergarten...
