penpals

I teach second grade and one year one of my mothers was an activity director for one of our local nursing homes. She wanted my class to be penpals that were still able to write letters. So we did and it was a great experience. We wrote every other month or so and they wrote back. They came and visited us at school and see our fall program and in the spring we went to visit them. We took a tour of the residence and played some games with them. The kids really enjoyed it and I know the seniors did, too.
