Math Word Lists
By Erin

Clip to ScrapBook
There's a poster you can find in most teaching stores...it says something about Keys to Math, and it has keys on it and common words to indicate which operation to use. Anyway some other lists could include:

Addition: How many in all, find the sum, What's the total?

Subtraction: How many MORE? What is the difference, or find the difference, How many less than?

Multiplication: What is the product of? How many (objects) are in groups of #? The word "OF" in a word problem usually indicates multiplication also.

Division: find the quotient, how many groups of? "shared by"
