I also have a sheet on which the parents can indicate things they would like to do for the class. I include things like chaperoning a field trip, copying papers, working on bulletin boards, helping with classroom cooking or art projects, and organizing class parties. I include a place where parents with special talents/knowledge can indicate if they would like to share this with the class. I've had as speakers a geologist, a civil engineer, a chemical engineer, a meterologist, and several parents who are natives of other countries. I was amazed at what they were able to bring to our classroom.
