non-productive student

I have had a student that sounds like this. He was otherwise well-behaved, but would not work and took his work home. The problem was that he got so much "help" at home that he wasn't really learning much. When the school insisted he take more responsibility the parents changed schools. We got him as school #3 and he has transferred two more times. He is back now as a 6th grader very behind in all his skills, and has become a behavior problem with little work ethic. Unfortunately, they were searching for a miracle when what was needed was to take responsibility.
