Be firm, and supportive
By Jaime

Clip to ScrapBook
I am going into my fourth year teaching in an inner city. I had been nervous and very overwhelmed.. make sure that you are very firm and be c ertain to eliminate bad habits in the first two weeks.
I spent my first and second year wishing that i coud redo my first week. The children will know that they are in school to work, as long as you come in daily with a serious no-nonsense tone. Then, after a few months, they will know that they have been achieving, and they will continue to progress.
PS- Don't ever stop caring!
