I am changing for a variety of reasons but the primary reason is that in my area of N.Y.S. we have very few elementary (K-6) guidance counselors. the positions that do exist are usually ADAPEP and one counselor bounces from school to school spending one day at each elementary school. Hope this clarifies your question. I really like being with the younger kids but in my area that it extreemely difficult since most of the elementary schools only hire Social Workers and School Psychologists. They obviously do not recognize the importace of the guidance/ school counselor at the lower levels. Karen
