I agree that your student may have Asperger's. Be cautious about how you approach parents on this since it is a medical diagnosis.

My son has Asperger's and the best resource I have found is a book called The OASIS Guide to Asperger's Syndrome by Patricia Romanowski Bashe and Barbara L. Kirby. The OASIS website is wonderful, too.

One thing you might want to watch, most kids with ASS have difficulty with fine motor skills. Writing extra sentences as punishment is usually to be avoided with them. Pent up anger over such a punishment is liable to spill over into other areas.
