Not exactly the same, but one year I took well known Christmas songs and highlighted a word or phrase. I gave it to my Secret Santa the day before I gave her a gift. For instance, I might highlight "yuletide carols being sung by a choir" from The Christmas Song. The next day, I would wrap up a Christmas CD or tape along with a clue for the next day's gift.
Another idea-could you give a brief clue each day and instead of the $5 daily gift, give a really nice gift on the last day. I know my Secret Santa really liked the suspense of the clues.
