we grade our work

I see a big advantage in having children grade their own work because they have to be honest with themselves.A red pen is used by all. I show them on a transparency especially letter formation where their letters MUST look like letters to be correct. We do not grade everything, but about 2-3 papers per morning.Then my 24 students stand up in line order.I put on the board the sequence for the papers to be in order.They bring them to me, and I sort writing any child's name down that did not have an assignment ready.10 points taken off for next day late then a zero is given.This works for me.
