Send home a family project in which child and family design a home evacuation plan. Practice "stop, drop and roll. Talk about "Get out and stay out." Practice fire drill evacuation procedures in school. Discuss matches and lighters being for grown-ups, things that are hot (iron, heater, stove, etc.) Invite your local fire dept. to visit the school in their firetruck.
