Madlibs
By Susan/5th

Clip to ScrapBook
My students beg to play Madlibs! It's great for teaching the parts of speech. I do a few as a class, then they create their own and pass them around. They're really hilarious.

You can do so many things to make writing fun. At Thanksgiving, have turkey shapes and the students have to write a persuasive essay, from the turkey's perspective, to keep from getting eaten at Thanksgiving. Things like that......

You still take them through the writing process (each stage), but then have something fun for the publishing part of it. You can also do tons with poetry in the same manner - creating poetry books where they write different types of poems on each page.
