grading
By JJ

Clip to ScrapBook
My school district uses a non-graded report card as well. Luckily thought, the school district issued a rubric for grading for each quarter. Without the rubric, it was very difficult, and was very subjective. Maybe you and your teammates could create a rubric for each area so that you are all grading the same way.

As for a grade book, I don't have one. I teach first grade. I look at daily work, keep all rough drafts of writing, take running records, and look through math journals when doing report cards. I also do assessments before report card times, on things like reading sight words and writing dictated sentences.

Do whatever feels good to you. Enjoy the new system.
