I think that ALL (or nearly all) teachers feel that way after their first year teaching, or teaching a new grade level. That first year is a learning year for us too, and, looking back, we see all of the 'should of/ could of's'. Just know that you did the best that you could, you gave it your all. It sounds as though you are a wonderful, caring teacher, and I'll bet that you did a super job last year. Remember, we all get frustrated teaching, and perhaps the 4th grade teacher was just 'having one of those days' or venting...not at your teaching abilities...but at the class as a whole.
