Clip to ScrapBook
Well, I teach from the book so as far as what order to teach them, I can't help you. But here is an activity:

1. Give each student (or group or pair) a sheet of posterboard.

2. Assign each person, pair, or group an explorer to research. Have them put their finds on the posterboard. Try to give them some required things to look for (route, where they went, ships they took, how long, dates, etc.), but also let them find some other things that are just interesting to them.

Here is another idea:

1. Let each person pick an explorer.
2. Have them find information about the journey, and then have them make a story book with pictures for their finds.
