I was fortunate to have my 1st assignment a half day. I was scheduled to be there for a 1st grade from 12-3:30. I showed up at 11:15 and went right to the class. This way I could see how the teacher handled the class. I actually have a lot of half days right now in a new school and all the teachers seem impressed and not put out when I show up early. This way they can introduce me to the students and share their expectations. Its a win win situation. In this same school I have subbed as a special ed teacher which allows me to sit in with the kids observing seasoned teachers. If I have learned anything and I am still learning it is to be consistent and always in control. Good Luck
