Try this on for size- In Indiana the tests are given in SEPTEMBER! Not only are we expected to perform to the standards set by people who do NOT have a clue, my third graders are tested over things I never had a chance to teach. They are tested on a third grade level over what they learned in second grade and forgot over the summer! I spend the first 4 weeks of school doing power reviews and praying. And have you looked at all the questions? Example: Which picture shows an example of Dr. Martin Luther King's dream? I personally chose the wrong answer and discovered that the correct one was the picture of a man handing a pair of hedge trimmers across the fence to another man. ??????? I haven't ever, but these tests make me want to cheat.
