inclusion
By sandyH

Clip to ScrapBook
I have to put in my 2cents' worth...I have 9 out of 23 students in my homeroom who are on IEPs. They are all included to different degrees. Some are pulled out for subjects as needed. My personal take on inclusion is that
it has to be driven by the needs of the individual children. There is not a "one size fits all" solution to inclusion. Two of my students are functioning at such a basic level that they really would benefit from more functional skills rather than participating in science, social studies, grammar, etc. instucted on grade level with modifications. Unfortunately, we are not sufficiently
staffed to allow for pull outs during those times. To boil it down, inclusion (on a case by case basis) with sufficient support is the way education should be. Inclusion for all with insufficient support is criminal.
