writing in K

Clip to ScrapBook
We have a very structured writing program in our district. What I do with the reluctant writers is let them accompany me as I visit and encourage for a couple of days. I take one of those hole punches that make little pictures
of things with me, and stamp writing papers while giving encouragement....ie....Gee, you wrote your name so nicely on the top....etc. After seeing this my relunctant writers want the get a hole punch and compliment and come around nicely. Look into Marcia Freeman...in her books, she discusses the reluctant writer. Do you allow him to make a picture in his journal before writing?
Maybe allowing him to find something he really is interested in in a magazine and talking about it first. I hope that this will help in some way. I am sure you will turn him into a fantastic writer!
