Reading assessments-DRA By tgs/sc/6
|
| We just finished a district wide reading assessment of grades K-8, and used DRA kits. In each kit were leveled books of about 8-10 pages, in which students were assessed based on reading fluency (running records) and comprehension through a retelling. Much of Marie Clay's work in "An Observational Survey" was used for the fluency/word error portion of the assessment. As far as whether the assessment kit is good or not is another question. I have some issues with the leveled books in the kit. While the kit is supposed to be "tried and true" I would have student completely bomb the level 30 (6th grade) story, but would fly through the level 32 (7th grade) story. It seemed to me that the story was easier to understand, and the vocabulary was easier. Anyhow, you might want to look into it for your project. Good luck.
