Hope this helps

School districts start the application process right after February break out here in NY. I would send out as many resumes as you possibly can in Feb. 2005, the more you send, the more responses you can hope for. You can
try sending out resumes before you graduate, but just remember it's the middle of the school year...most teachers already have permanent positions. I graduated in January 2003 and received a TA position this year, so it looks as if I am on my way. Take it from me, try to get any position you can even if it's just subbing in the beginning. Letting a school district get to know you is
your best advantage. Also, attend job fairs, I know a lot of people who received jobs from them. I believe you can attend them before you graduate...it's good practice at interviewing. Good luck in the future.
