Clip to ScrapBook
It appears this act is heading towards the privatization of schools. If Bush can prove that public schools are "failing" across the board, he'll be able to rationalizethe use of private corporations to take over the educational
system.

Secondly, the feds haven't given us any funds to provide for the various provisions of the act.

1) Over 100,000 children in our district (urban, impoverished, with a majority of people of color) are supposed to be able to transfer to better schools. This year, only 300 slots were available for transfers to schools which are only a step above "failing".

2)

Failing districts/schools are supposed to provide tutoring. Our coffers have not been filled to meet these expectations.

At any rate, I don't see how this act is helping our children. If Bush looked at the home lives of my students, his head would be swimming in disbelief.
