    Clip to ScrapBook

I had my gifted second graders get into groups and create a "business" complete with flyers advertising items on sale. We then had a shopping day where the groups set up their businesses. Each student had a cheque book and half of them went to buy things at the stores while the other half ran the businesses-- then we switched. The kids had to balance a bank book with money coming into the account (from their business) and money leaving the account (when they purchased something. They also had a handful of paper money to use at the stores which taught making change, etc...

Another idea is to get the kids to create their own math games and puzzles for others to play and figure out. They can also take a logic problem, solve it and then create an interactive game or centre that other kids can use to figure out the problem.
