overhead image

Clip to ScrapBook
I have had my classes do several very large murals starting with an overhead image. I just made a transparency copy of whatever picture I wanted as large as possible on a standard copy machine. Then I put it on my overhead and position it on the paper or wall where you want it. Then back up the table with the machine on it until it is as large as you need it to be, then focus. This seems to work for me. I usually tape the transparency to the machine once I get it set so if I have to move the table it will still be set correctly. A mural like this is very easy and looks impressive when done. I have the kids color, paint or collage with magazine pieces cut to size. I usually do the outline or have a parent helper do it rather than my 3rd graders. Have fun!
