"Another suggestion, is when you get a chance, borrow a teachers workbooks, and make some copies of math addition problems for 3rd grade, maybe some reading/story problems, you know a couple of things that should keep them
busy for a couple of hours. Get some for each grade. If you know ahead of time that you will be doing 2nd grade, grab that folder, slip it into your bag, and you'll be a little prepared."

This is a really good idea. Also, there are books that you can bury for each grade level (preK-5th at least) that supposedly cover the fundamental skills for that grade. I have seen them at Costco

(warehouse store), but I'm sure they are available elsewhere. I don't know how much they cost, but it might be worth it just to have something to copy in case there is nothing else to work with. These books cover different subject areas, so you could have something for math, reading, etc.
