re: refusal to act

Clip to ScrapBook
yelling at the students will NOT get them to comply with a request..it is just adding fuel to a fire they are attempting to create..it is a power struggle....Im very surprized another teacher is suggesting this. In my class,
rules have been set from the get go....it is an ED class and this type of behavior occurs frequently.....if the student does not comply , they become a Non student and are separated from the class but not necessarily removed from the room..They do not earn points, take part in fun things, etc...hence they still hear the lessons....however teens do not like to be banished from their
peers and by doing so, they will think twice next time......your other option is to have a parent conference very soon and get the parents support on the issue...once again, going over the rules and consequences....this is a short over view....if you would like a more detailed explantion, please write.
