I also work in an afterschool program for kindergarteners and day school kids. It is important for you to protect yourself at all times....kids can say anything! Always document behavior like that, tell your director and talk to the parent so they don't get a surprise conversation over dinner! Kids are very creative and imaginative....you should also talk to the young girl and maybe even incorperate a class discussion that you are the "teacher" and they are your "students". I'm interested in knowing if the little girl has a father at home... First talk to boss, then talk to parent, third talk to child....tell | | her that it is ok for you and she to be friends, but you don't think it is ok for her to kiss you and you are embarrassed by the things she says, respectfully ask her to stop. Then offer her a hug of friendship..kids are resiliant and bounce back from stuff like this! Good luck, let me know how it works out.
