writer's notebooks

Fletcher's books are geared both towards teachers and students. He has published many books with his wife. If you were to do a search on a bookstore site by author you can see all of his books. He has written chapterbooks,| picture books, writing handbooks, and teacher resource books. To get started his book "Writer's Workshop" is a great quick read that will give you an overview of a writing workshop format. I use some of his other books to grab the students attention. I start the year off with one of his chapter books, then as we begin our writer's notebooks I quote Fletcher's book " A Writer's Notebook". | |
The kids get sucked in because they know that he is an author and he is going to give them tips on writing. It's so cool! I also use his picture books for mini-lesson. He has written poetry books too! I finish off the year with "Flying Solo". My children are very familiar with Fletcher and he has truly helped them become better writers.
