notebook grading
By Dawn

Clip to ScrapBook
I am also an 8th grade math teacher. I do a daily warm-up (minute math) activity at the beginning of each class. I also keep a notebook of my own with all of the notes and other items that I expect the students to have in
their notebooks. I require students to keep a sectional binder that houses 1. daily warm-ups 2. tests/& quizes 3. classwork/homework practice (not graded) 4. notes 5. projects. If all of the sections are complete the student receives 5 points for his/her notebook for that grading period (I do per marking term, but we have 6 marking terms so it's easy) if a section is incomplete the
student receives no point for that section. I count their notebook grade as a quiz grade.

Absent students are responsible for making up all notes, tests, quizes, projects, classwork and homework. I do not require students to make up daily warm-ups... I only ask them to note that they were out for that particular warm-up.

I hope this helps

Dawn
