Don't fear, Kindergarteners come to school wanting to please their teacher. They want you to like them and love them. Treat them like people. Don't talk down to them. Get down on your knees and talk to them face to face.
Don't underestimate them! They can do and know a lot more then they are given credit for. Be organized and structured. These children can't yet pull out a book and do silent reading. They need you to guide them. If you are feeling out of control, take control. Plan your every minute with ideas of things to fill the time. Kindergarteners love finger ryhmes, games, music and movement,
recess and playing. Teach them to be good to each other. You are a school family now and they need to watch over each other and care for each other. Look into Responsive Classroom if you haven't. There are wonderful tips on their website and in many books. Show them respect and they will return it. Enjoy kindergarteners!!! They still love school and learning so take advantage of that!!
