Keep it simple
By Lori

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't have time during the day to write notes. When I taught Kindergarten, I would stamp the kids hands on their way out the door. 2 stamps= great day, 1 stamp=OK day, and 0 stamps meant problems. The parents knew what
to look for and were welcome to call me if there were any questions (like when their sweet kindergartner would tell them it washed off).

Now in 1st, when I have a real behavior problem I use a simple chart taped to their desk. It is a quarter sheet of paper with a 6 squares, and a spot for the child's name, date, and parent signature. Each square represents an hour of the day. I

cruise by at some point in the hour and mark it: smiley face=good hour, OK means some problems but straighted out, unhappy face means problems. It's very easy and effective. The parents know to look for it each day and the child must have it signed and returned. If it doesn't come back, I make a phone call.
