We had the same rule at my charter school about 3 years ago. Everyone wore pantyhose or kneehighs for awhile, but when we got a new female principal, she didn't wear hose, so we stopped wearing them. The rule just kind of
went by the wayside. By the way, the rule was proposed by a board member who works at a school that has no real dress code, so I guess she was just trying to assert her authority. We had a teacher assistant who had some tattoos on her lower legs and I think the board felt it was inappropriate for the tattoos to show at school, so they agreed to the hose rule. I teach K and it is difficult

and uncomfortable to wear p'hose. I'm in the south and it's just too HOT for them. Also the male teachers are supposed to wear a tie everyday, but we now have a new male principal who doesn't wear one everyday, so neither do the male teachers. Hopefully with a little time, the rule will just go away.
