Hi Veronica,
I went into teaching for the same reasons you did-to help kids. However there are many obstacles:

Parents- Some are great. Others think you are out to get their kid and will find ways to make your life
miserable.

Administrators- Many want more and more from the teachers when we are giving 100% already. Their bosses demand more so they put it on the teachers.
Public-see only "summers off" and assume we sit at a desk all day when most teachers work well over the 40 hour week and have summer jobs or go take classes.

Testing_- Standards are to be met sip again most of the pressure

falls on the teacher.

I love my job and feel I DO make a difference, but if these pressures continue I don't know if it is fair to encourage people to go into teaching without being realistic. I am sorry I can't be more encouraging, but I have a friend that left teaching and went into accounting!
