math in the K
By judy

Clip to ScrapBook
What I would do is really evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your kids. That might give you a good indication on where to begin. What exactly is your responsibility...are you like a Basic Skills person for needy math
students? What curriculum is the staff in your school using? I think that that might give you a basis for your lessons. You always want to compliment and not confuse. If these children are needy and in K, chances are they need to focus on recognizing numbers and counting. I also do a lot of activities with patterning, geoboards, calculators, writing numbers, tallying, symetry, graphing,
following oral instruction, for a start. Also money......I can't believe that your adminstration and faculty are not helpful! See what the curriculum guide says for students in your district and work from there....if you are in need of any specific math lessons....I would be glad to help out further. We do everything the big kids do.....also measurement is also important. Good luck, I know you will do fine. Just start where the kids need it most.
