Do you have any type of behavior plan in place? I teach 8th grade (and have taught 6th and 7th), and I give each student 10 tickets at the beg. of a grading period. I actually keep them in a binder for the kids. When they are rude or disrespectful, I place a "yellow card" on thier desk. They fill in the information on the card (name, what they did, date, etc). They put this in my mailbox and they know I will take a ticket from them. It is funny that even my 8th graders hate to lose tickets. I have an aution for them at the end of the grading period. I have candy bars, soda, certificates for free stuff (Smoothies, books, etc). I buy a lot of things from the dollar stores. I get nerf footballs, picture frames, etc.

I still reserve the right to take away privelages, such as recess, if I feel it is necessary. They really don't like "lunch detention". Our parents are very supportive of our behavior plans, so that is helpful.

    Hopefully, this helps!! Good Luck!!
