Does that sound like fun!! I think I will do that too. My idea was much easier. Use the back of a paper plate color it blue and cut out copies of the the continents(color them different) to glue on the globe. I have also
seen it done assigning different hemispheres. Another easy idea I did was tell them three things they must have on top their desk(like a pencil, a purple crayon and an eraser). They can add other things. Make a map with a map key of the top of their desk. Show it to you right away to make sure it is right. We did this after we assembled a map of our room on the rug using real things.
Our pink erasers were the desks, somebody thought of using the rulers for the counters, some folded paper for the easel an tissue box for my desk, the kids came up with lots of things and then we all stood around and looked at it from above. I quick made a map key and then we went try our own desk map. Have fun!
