I feel your pain. I am not special ed, but English as a Second Language and it's all I can do to not cry sometimes at my inability to help all my kids because of time and curriculum. I see a total of about 60 kids a day
(in classes of 8 or 9,two classrooms put together) and as the year progresses all the teachers seem to be spread apart in their lessons; one is on unit 9, one on 12, oops, one is going to do a completely different spelling book altogether and I have that class scheduled with the unit 9 class, etc. lol. It's a little crazy.
Anyway, the only thing that I've found that has maintained

my sanity is pre-teaching and teaching some of the kids not only their own subjects but others as well. Hey, it's an ESL classroom, so it's more vocabulary for them, right? I try to teach the kids at least a couple days before the curriculum they will learn in their class. It also helps them be more prepared to understand the lesson better when their classroom teacher presents it to them.
