Don't be embarrassed!
By Teacher42

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a young, unmarried female teacher myself, and in trying to picture myself in your situation, I have a couple of "thoughts".

1.) The teacher across the hall from me had a baby last year (she was unmarried). We got
a new principal, and he was VERY supportive. Her parents and students knew that she was expecting a baby, but she didn't share much more about it. not only did she stay until she was almost due, she came back after 2 months- no problem!

2.) If you have a union, get in touch with a rep IMMEDIATELY! That is what they are there for- to protect you. I agree that as teachers, we are role

models, but we all make choices and mistakes. You are being responsible about your decisions. Shouldn't that be an example to your students? If you don't have a union, get in touch with an lawyer. Your principal is treading on some thin ice.

Most importantly (and I know it is much easier said than done) please try to take care of yourself. This is an exciting time in your life. BEST OF LUCK!
