parties

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree with previous posters. Keep the party lower key, near the end part of the day. Keep at least your morning on a regular schedule. You can get reading, writing and math done. Of course, you could still use the theme
during these activities. When you do have the party, you can have the children each bring something to eat, or you can have your room-rep ask say three parents to supply cut up veggies and dip, one to supply cookies, and one to send a drink. (Those parents will not be approached for another party.) You can share the food, watch a video, have free choice activities they love, move
to some music, do a craft, (or decorate a cupcake) and send them home promptly without a lot of mess to clean up in your room. In the "long ago time" when five parents each sent in a treat, most of it went into the garbage. Children in Gr 1 have pretty small tummies actually. But I sure love to see them crowding around the veggies munching and dipping and asking for seconds! Fruit and dip, or crackers and cheese would work too.
