Christmas Ideas
By Tracy

Clip to ScrapBook
I have done different versions of this every year with both 4th and 5th graders. One thing I have done is spend one week each on Kwanzaa, Hannukah, and Christmas and get into the country, the traditions, fun art projects,
etc. Last year I had a student teacher and we came up with a group project where each group got a country--picked out of a hat--and they had to look up the country, make a map of their country, tell what kind of winter traditions, dates celebrated, history, etc. We called it Winter Traditions Around the World, so that if a country didn't celebrate Christmas, the students could still
fulfill their requirements. The students made presentations for a gallery walk and invited classes throughout the building to come in and learn about our world. There are a lot of different websites out there is you do a search. I put them on a webpage for my students, but lost them somehow so unfortunately I cannot share them with you. Good luck and have fun!! The kids love this kind of stuff and there are lots of great art projects you can do too.
