In the art room

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Hi,
Well, this is a tough subject for me. I am an art teacher for an elementary school. I get all the kids, no matter what. We have several classrooms here that have a para, but they don't come to art with the
kids. I am basically handed each child blindly, I am never told if a child has a disability. In real life, I am to be accomodating for these children with needs, but if I don't know exactly their needs are what am I to accomodate for? I guess my complaint is to have someone responsible for all the children with disabilities and to make a little chart telling all of us that see these children,
other than their regular teacher, what their needs are. I had a child this year, that I saw three times before the teacher told me he has MS. I had no idea, I had noticed a lot of differences and special attention he needed, but I had no idea he had such a condition. Every teacher that deals with a child with a disability needs to know so we can be responsible and accomidate!
