Taking supplies to new job
By Third grade teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I would not take anything purchased with the school's money. That to me would be like stealing, because they were from monies the taxpayers paid for the education of the students in that district. I would make a list of the
items you feel you definitely need, so when you find a new job, you could present it to the principal as sort of a "wish list" if those items are missing from your new classroom. You also might have a different grade, and some of those "must-have" items might not be appropriate for the new grade level.I also know what you mean about having to buy materials. When I relocated from a rural
district to a suburban one, the suburban one paid a lot more in salary, but had a lot smaller supply budget, and I had to go into my personal monies to buy the things I needed. I also did this again when I went from fourth to third to second grade, especially with classroom library books. It's sort of the "nature of the beast" unfortunately, and one many members of the public don't realize. Good luck in your new home and with your new job.
